About

Santa Monica, California based indie pop duo Only Bricks burst onto the Southern California music scene with the release of their debut EP Foundation in early 2018. Now they’re getting ready to spread yet another sun-soaked anthem with their newest single Alright!  Fronted by lead vocalist Anne DiGiovanni and joined by her husband, guitarist Joseph Lewczak, Only Bricks is the definition of quirky indie pop.

Only Bricks’ music is an eclectic and unique collection of rock, pop, and dance, mixed with their own individual and uplifting musical sensibility. Their songs inspire joy with bright, multi-faceted melodies, poppy hooks, and lyrics that tell relatable stories of love, desire, and connection.   Their latest single, Alright!, is no exception.  It’s a song celebrating women’s empowerment and self-love.

Only Bricks’ lead vocalist Anne DiGiovanni says, “Women are under pressure on so many levels, from relationships to proving ourselves at work to state legislatures and courts deciding what we're allowed to do with our own bodies. It's a lot, and this song is just a reminder to look to our inner strength and it will be ok.”

Since their crowd-electrifying live debut in April 2018 at The Peppermint Club in Los Angeles, the band has been heaped with praise. The blog Musicotfuture, said that Foundation "will have you dancing all night." The blog Thinking Lyrically remarked about the band’s songs’ "huge, infectious choruses that are perfect for summer!" Indie Voice Blog hailed "[t]he sweet vocals of Anne DiGiovanni, combined with the musical genius of her husband, Joseph Lewczak, create music that is a sheer joy to behold, and makes you want to get up and boogie." LA Music Critic Bob Leggett went so far as to exclaim, "[t]he new reigning King and Queen of Indie Pop music. Their new release, Foundation, is one of the best of 2018." Vents Magazine called it the "perfect California indie pop record."Substream Magazine exclaimed the lead single, "Twisted," is "full and rich while still moving and dancing with pop sensibility." Atwood Magazine raved that the EP’s second single, "(Your Love Gets Me) High," is a "fuzzy, feel-good and infectiously upbeat single."

Lyrics

I understand, life doesn't last
You've had a difficult time
Stuck in a past you can't get past
Living inside of your dysfunctional mind

Open, open your heart and let go
Whatcha waiting for?
Be here, be here and dance, whoa
And don't hold back anymore

Chorus:
Get on the floor
Make your heartbeat loud
Get on the floor
You can feel the sound
Get on the floor
You just lose control
Get on the floor
Let it fill your soul
Get up, get up, get up, get up, get on the
Get up, get up, get up, get up
Get on the floor

You're feeling like you're faking it
But there is nowhere to hide
You've got this chance, you're taking it
Gonna get high on this emotional ride

Open, open your heart and let go
Whatcha waiting for?
Be here, be here and dance, whoa
And don't hold back anymore

Get on the floor
Make your heartbeat loud
Get on the floor
You can feel the sound
Get on the floor
You just lose control
Get on the floor
Let it fill your soul
Get up, get up, get up, get up, get on the
Get up, get up, get up, get up, get on the
Get up, get up, get up, get up
Get on the floor

Make your heart beat
You can feel it
You just lose it

Get up, get up, get up, get up, get on the
Get up, get up, get up, get up, get on the
Get up, get up, get up, get up

Get on the floor
Make your heartbeat loud
Get on the floor
You can feel the sound
Get on the floor
You just lose control
Get on the floor
Let it fill your soul
(repeat)

Get up, get up, get up, get up, get on the
Get up, get up, get up, get up, get on the
Get up, get up, get up, get up
Get on the floor

This love used to be a palace, now it’s a prison
Locked down in the dungeon of the kingdom I’m missing
Now get, getting your attention is a constant battle
Your smile, your smile is like the sunshine in Seattle
Where did it go?
Where did it go?
I don’t know

Chorus:
I don’t want to be just an afterthought
Not a keychain for the car you bought
Only take me out in the parking lot
I don’t want to be, I don’t want to be just an after, just an afterthought

This love, used to be a Tesla, now it’s a Taurus
Stalled out, in the traffic on the freeway before us
Now leave, leaving might be selfish of me but I don’t think so
Cause your heart, your heart is like July in San Francisco
Why is it cold?
Why is it cold?
Why is it cold?
I don’t know

Chorus 2:
I don’t want to be just an afterthought
When you blast off like an astronaut
Cause I don’t want all the space you want
I don’t want to be, I don’t want to be just an after, just an afterthought

I don’t want to be a snowglobe in your palm
Taken off the shelf to shake up when you want
I don’t want to be a worn-out party dress
Hanging in the back of the closet, just another thing you
oh - oh - oh - oh - oh - own, a thing you
oh - oh - oh - oh - oh - own, a thing you
oh - oh- oh - oh - oh - own, and I know

I don’t want to be just an afterthought
Not a keychain for the car you bought
Only take me out in the parking lot
I don’t want to be, I don’t want to be just an after, just an after
I don’t want to be just an afterthought
When you blast off like an astronaut
Cause I don’t want all the space you want
I don’t want to be, I don’t want to be just an after, just an afterthought
